Pierre-Joseph Redouté known as the Raphael of flowers, revolutionized the art of botanical painting. Recognized by Marie-Antoinette and then by the Empress Joséphine who commissioned him to paint the flowers of her castle of Malmaison, his subtle brush and his great scientific discipline led him to create works of incomparable quality and beauty.

 

Thanks to his particular use of watercolor, he painted more than 1700 remarkable works that were used for engraving. This book is a step by step introduction to the Master's method, which includes many examples and photos. From copies of works by Pierre-Joseph Redouté and watercolors by the author, you will learn the basic techniques to achieve your own compositions.
